Jennifer does a quick little check in to let you know how life snatched her peace of mind. TW: topics include illness during pregnancy and possible extreme outcomes.
*Update: in the episode Jenn references the gallbladder but the affected organ is the liver.
Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) is a potentially serious liver condition that can develop during pregnancy. It's characterized by a build-up of bile acids in the body due to improper flow from the liver to the gut. The main symptom is intense itching, often worse at night and on the palms and soles of the feet, but it can occur anywhere and may be constant or recurrent. There's no rash.
